At Princess Royal Station, when we are producing quality beef, we feel it is just as important to nurture the environment as it is to nurture our cattle. Therefore, we are committed to continuously building on our environmental management and including environmental concerns into all business decisions.

What do we do?

There are many factors that we believe can reduce our environmental impact.

On the pastoral side of our operations, we continue to adopt methods and practices to ensure minimal impact to the environment. This includes managed rotational grazing and rejuvenation of overgrazed areas, conservation, and the removal of non-native plants and animals.

This approach is also incorporated in our policies to control water usage, air pollution, waste, fuel and power minimization. We are dedicated to continuous improvement to our ecosystem management, biodiversity protection, and the protection of natural resources, wildlife and endangered species.

We constantly manage and improve our manufacturing processes to minimize any impact on the environment. We aim to become increasingly more efficient in the use of water and energy resources in the most considerate and economical manner possible.

We also incorporate environmental management into the maintenance and rehabilitation of base resources that are important to productivity and biodiversity, including erosion control, revegetation, pasture spelling (returning pastures to a more productive state), burning, weed control, and pest control.

Why is this so important?

As one of South Australia’s premier feedlots, we understand and accept our duty of social responsibility as well as the duty to our community.

At Princess Royal Station, we comply with, and strive to exceed, the Federal, State and Local Governments Codes of Practice, regulations and standards in relation to environmental issues.

We also feel that it is important to assist in the control of feral animals and vegetation for the safety of endangered species and unique habitats.

Sustainability is an important factor in all of our business practices and so we aim to protect biodiversity by incorporating sustainable development.

We believe that environmental sustainability should remain an integral part of all our operations, not only for the welfare of our cattle, but to also ensure the future prosperity and beauty of the local community.
