Truck Driver - Livestock

We are currently on the lookout for a suitably experienced MC truck operator to join our growing fleet. 

This role requires a team player who is reliable, self-motivated, understands their NHVR compliance responsibilities and of course, enjoys driving and working outdoors. 

About the role

Long-distance cattle transport of various combinations both locally and interstate, including regular deliveries. Will suit operators willing to be away from home for regular short periods of time. Operators will be required to help loading and unloading cattle. 

About you
A successful candidate for the role must:

  • Hold a valid MC license,
  • Substantial driving experience (B-Double/Triple/Road Train), with contactable references,
  • BFM certification,
  • Have good communication skills,
  • Ability to identify potential faults and defects,
  • Responsible attitude caring for truck and trailer assets.

Princess Royal Feedlot - Livestock Hands

We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and competent livestock hands who have a genuine interest in cattle to join the livestock team. A keen interest in animal health is desirable. 

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • Livestock health & welfare checks,
  • Ill or injured animal health treatments,
  • Cattle handling,
  • Loading and unloading cattle,
  • Processing and weighing cattle,
  • Cattle movements,
  • Vaccinating cattle,
  • Paddock feeding,
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties

All applicants should possess the following attributes

  • Cattle handling skills and ability,
  • Enjoy working outdoors,
  • The ability to show initiative,
  • Experience or willingness to learn low-stress stock handling techniques,
  • The ability to identify ill or injured livestock and act accordingly,
  • Good communication skills,
  • Hold a valid and current valid and current driver license 
  • The ability to follow direction, work as a part of a team or individually as required,
  • Willing to work flexible and extended hours as required.

Two positions are available for eager and competent machinery operators at our beef cattle feedlot, just north of Burra, South Australia. 

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • Machinery operation,
  • Machinery and equipment maintenance and care,
  • Daily cattle feeding  
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties

  • Enjoy working outdoors

  • The ability to follow direction, work as a part of a team or individually as required,
  • Willing to work flexible and extended hours as required

Princess Royal Feedlot - Feed Allocator

A new position is available for an experienced and motivated person to join our feed team at Princess Royal Feedlot as a Feed Allocator. 

The Feed Allocator position is available to those with a strong interest in animal nutrition and health, and ability to operate heavy machinery and operate our feedlot software programs.  

The Feed Allocator will be responsible for daily feed allocation and bunk hygiene to support optimum cattle welfare and performance. 

Key duties and responsibilities 

  • Checking pens to assess and allocate feed to cattle each day
  • Maintain bunk hygiene
  • Keep feeding computer programs up to date
  • Work as part of the feeding team operating loading and feeding machinery to feed cattle accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain machinery and equipment to a high level of care.
  • Monitoring of cattle feeding programs to achieve desired results.
  • Commodity processing and handling.
  • General cleaning and maintenance duties

  • Precise calculation skills and computer skills
  • Enjoy working outdoors
  • The ability to work efficiently
  • The ability to show initiative
  • Good communication skills
  • Hold a current drivers’ license

  • Willing to work flexible and extended hours as required
  • Preferably a front-end loader ticket and or experience
  • Other large machine tickets and experience desired (Bobcat, Telehandler, Heavy Truck License)
